A personal message from April- owner of Scotch Pines: Thank you for your interest in Scotch Pines. We routinely update our website, keeping all information up to date. Scotch Pines has grown over the years to the point that we no longer have the luxury of answering every question via personal phone calls. Our website has been set up to answer every question we can think of! If there is a question you have that is not covered on our website, please email us and let us know and we will add it to our website!

Thank you so much for your understanding!
Most basic questions are answered on our "contact us" page
Our business was started in 1993  by Will and Vivian Stoppel. It is now owned by their daughter April Stoppel Jantz as a full-time career and is the largest dog training school in Idaho, and one of the largest in the nation. We enjoy tremendous support from veterinarians, law enforcement officials, and humane societies of the Treasure Valley.
Because our classes number 200 dogs per week we've been privileged to work over the years with thousands of dogs of all breeds-- huge dogs, aggressive dogs, sensitive dogs, rambunctious dogs, timid dogs, petrified dogs, abused dogs, young dogs and old dogs.
We love them all and we welcome the chance to work with you and your special dog soon!

Our business has expanded!!  Scotch Pines now has training offered in Twin Falls Idaho, Idaho Falls Idaho and Anchorage Alaska. To contact Stephanie Hostetter the owner of our Twin Falls/ Anchorage company please visit

Our Goals
  • To provide the best customer service possible.
  • To make each client delighted with their results
  • To  promote a better understanding of dog behavior and in so doing help the community.

The entire focus of our training is to teach your dogs to obey regardless of what is going on around them. With that in mind we teach the dogs in a group setting with up to 30 other dogs and handlers and require the dogs attention at all times.
